Envisioning Folk: Art Inspired by Heritage

This September, immerse yourself in the spirit of tradition, storytelling, and cultural expression with Envisioning Folk: Art Inspired by Heritage, a dynamic new exhibition celebrating the enduring power of folk art from our friends at the Center for Visual Artists. The show opens with a public reception on Friday, September 5, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, and will be on view throughout the weekend as part of the North Carolina Folk Festival held in downtown Greensboro.

This special exhibition offers festivalgoers the opportunity to explore how contemporary artists interpret and preserve folk traditions through their creative practices. Whether honoring ancestral techniques or reimagining folkloric motifs with modern flair, these artists create works that resonate with memory, identity, and a deep sense of place.

Call for ART: Envisioning Folk seeks a diverse group of local artists whose work draws from family traditions, cultural roots, and community histories. Work should offer a unique window into the evolving narrative of folk art in the 21st century. $15 registration fee or Free registration for CVA Artist Members. Please use this link to register.
