Statewide Youth Talent Contest & Showcase

Presented by CHROMATICA, a program of the non-profit, A Collective of Excellence, Inc. (ACE), the CHROMATICA Youth Talent Contest & Showcase at the North Carolina Folk Festival is a statewide call for young artists to share their voice, craft, and creativity. This exciting competition invites North Carolina youth (ages 18 and under) to submit videos showcasing their musical talents for a chance to perform live on stage as part of the festival’s official programming.

A select group of finalists will be chosen to perform in Greensboro during the festival. Their performances will be featured in a special youth spotlight at the Flat Iron on Sunday, Sept. 14, where one standout artist will be recognized with a title of excellence, community honors, and potential musical additional opportunities.

submission process

  • Fill out the submission form by clicking the button below.

  • Upload a video of your musical performance (instrumental or vocal; solo or group)

  • Content must be family-friendly and appropriate for all ages

  • Finalists will be selected to perform 10–15 minute sets live during the festival and will receive full event details upon selection

  • Deadline for submissions is June 30, 2025.

CHROMATICA is a program of A Collective of Excellence (ACE), a North Carolina-based nonprofit organization. CHROMATICA creates low-barrier, high-impact artistic experiences that elevate intergenerational voices through creative and collaborative experiences. A Collective of Excellence (ACE) is a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting and connecting communities through arts, culture, and education by providing accessible programs and events that inspire creativity, foster connection, and support both personal and professional development. ACE proudly produces CHROMATICA, along with flagship programming like the ACE Spirit Week Festival (April 25–May 3, 2025), a multi-day experience celebrating youth, community, and creativity. We’ve partnered with the NC Folk Festival for several years to help highlight youth talent and contribute to the cultural richness of the festival experience.
