Presented in partnership with The Arts Council of Greater Greensboro, our local folk series highlights local emerging artists who are shaping what folk music looks and sounds like right now.

Amythyst Kiah’s new album Still + Bright explores the vast expanse of her inner world: her deep-rooted affinity for Eastern philosophies and spiritual traditions, a near-mystical connection with the natural world, the life lessons learned in her formative years as a self-described “anime-nerd mall goth.”

Murphy Campbell has deep roots. Western North Carolina is a place her family settled centuries ago. Born in the foothills and coming from a long lineage of mountain folk – she seeks to draw up the remnants of a forgotten modal sound.
